Frequently Asked Questions
Please take a moment to check the FAQs. Still have questions? Contact us at email@example.com.
I am a (fill in the blank). Will this event be useful to me? What will I get out of it?
If you still have questions after reading the ‘who is this for’ and event outcomes sections, please send an email outlining who you are and what you do to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will answer them as soon as we can.
How can I find out what’s going to be on the agenda?
The agenda is going to be designed directly around the experiences, needs and interests of the participants. This means that a detailed agenda is not going to be available during the registration period, it will be co-created with participants in the time leading up to the event. Therefore the best way for you to contribute to this process is to be as specific and detailed as you can when completing the registration form. The organising team will then be in touch with you directly with more information on the agenda co-creation process and to collect further inputs.
How may I find out who is going to be at the event?
In addition to a diverse mix of activists, campaigners and other change makers from around the world, representatives from the vast majority of Co-Conveners and Community Partners listed on the CampaignCon website will be present at CampaignCon.
When does registration close? Are places available on a first-come first-served basis?
Registration will close in mid to late-October, unless we reach full capacity before then. Places are available on a first-come first-served basis.
Does the registration fee really cover all lodging, meals and airport transfers?
Yes, the $800 USD registration fee covers lodging for three nights and all meals from dinner on Monday to lunch on Thursday, your accommodation for this period, plus ground transportation between the airport and the venue. Please note that airfares are not included. And if you require a visa to enter South Africa, you will receive a $50 discount to cover these costs.
Can I pay without using a credit card?
Yes, please let us know how many registration fees you would like to pay for and where we can send an invoice. We will also send you a code to use with your online registration.
Do I need a visa to travel to South Africa? If I do, is the cost of my visa covered by the registration fee?
Some participants will not need a visa to travel to South Africa. Please review the South African government’s list of visa-exempt countries. If you require a visa we will discount your registration fee. See the visa fee checkbox in the payment section. If you need a visa you will need to apply directly to and pay South Africa Home Affairs.
Do I need a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter South Africa?
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is an entry requirement if coming from a country with yellow fever risk. This refers to the country you are traveling from, rather than your nationality (although this will often be the same). Please check to see if this includes the country from which you will be traveling to CampaignCon.
If you are not coming from one of these countries and you already have the certificate, we recommend you bring it with you anyway just in case. For more information see yellow fever recommendations and requirements for South Africa.
If you do not yet have the vaccination certificate but require it to enter South Africa, please contact your doctor ASAP.
I am ready to book my flight! When should I plan to arrive in and depart from Johannesburg?
You should aim to arrive in Johannesburg by the afternoon of Monday 6th November. On Thursday 9th November, we recommend booking flights that depart after 18:00 so you can enjoy lunch before departing. We strongly encourage participants to attend the entire event. If you are unable to book travel during the recommended times, you will likely be placed on a waiting list and will need to cover your own ground transportation to the venue if a place does become available for you.
How will I get from the airport to the venue?
A return shuttle service from the airport to the venue is included in the price of your registration. But it is essential that your place is booked in advance, therefore we require you to send your confirmed flight itinerary to us.
I’m already in Johannesburg. Is there transportation to the venue from the city centre?
Yes! A shuttle service from the city centre (exact location to be confirmed) to the event venue is included in the cost of your registration fee. Please note that these will only run to the venue on the evening of the 6th and early morning on 7 November. City centre transfers will return to Johannesburg in the afternoon of 9 November. Please note however that participants will be expected to stay at the venue for the duration of the event.
I can't be there for the whole event. Is that okay?
Due to the high demand for this event and the unique format, we ask all participants to be present for the entire event. If you have an unavoidable conflict, we will place you on the waiting list.
I've registered but can no longer attend. Can i get a refund?
If you cancel more than 21 days before the event, you will be entitled to a full refund. If you cancel between 21 days and 10 days from the start of the event, you are entitled to a 50% refund if we are unable to fill your spot (but you will receive a 100% refund if we are able to fill your spot). If you cancel within 10 days of the event and we are unable to fill your slot, you will not be entitled to a refund, except for in extenuating circumstances, which will be reviewed on a case by case basis. If you can no longer make it, please let us know ASAP at email@example.com.
