In today’s networked world, change is more quickly and effectively won with creative, nimble, and people-centric campaigns. But the organisational cultures of yesterday don’t fully support these modern approaches to changemaking.

Are you a leader of an advocacy campaigning organisation who wants to transform how that organisation operates? MobLab is uniquely designed to help.

The Mobilisation Lab emerged in 2011 to engineer a significant cultural and behavioural shift within Greenpeace, bringing one of the world’s largest campaigning NGOs into the digital, people-powered era.

Since then, we have been helping leaders apply our experience to their own environments. Our clients have either inherited their outdated situations or are seeing the terrain of their work (funders, politics, membership, etc.) shift under their feet. They also recognize that their mission requires people power to succeed.

On every step of our journey to transform how UNICEF delivers change for children, MobLab’s support has been critical -- from building the internal capacity of our team in HQ, to facilitating volunteer engagement workshops in diverse countries around the globe, to providing mentorship and coaching as we navigate the myriad challenges an ambitious initiative invariably faces. There’s no question Moblab has helped UNICEF unlock the power of people to improve the lives of children.

Our Process

We’ve learned a great deal since our days at Greenpeace and have adapted a well-tested model for impact and collaboration that addresses the three toughest barriers to change: attitudes, behaviours, and structures.

We do not run your change initiative for you—we guide and support a team of people within your organisation to lead. This is key for sustainability and building the deep relationships necessary for success.

Our process involves three overarching phases:

  • Diagnostics: Scoping and assessment to help understand what kind of culture shift your organisation is looking for and could benefit from most.
  • Prescription: Design work to help you set up or re-focus a culture shift team and/or initiative.
  • Treatment and Application: Training and coaching, which sometimes includes full strategy retreats, workshops for or on behalf of your change initiative, and more focused ongoing work with specific teams and individuals.
